Surroundings

In the immediate neighbourhood of Cas Abao you can find Curaçaos most popular beaches, snorkel locations and dive-sites. Not only the tourists but also the local people like to come to Banda'bou, the rural western part of Curaçao.

Some of the beaches in the neighborhood are: Daaibooi baai, Porto Mari, Cas Abao Beach, Lagun, Grote Knip and Kleine Knip, Playa Jeremi, Playa Kalki. All beaches have their own characteristics and every single one is absolutely worth a visit!

At close distance Christoffelpark is located, a big national park where you can find the highest mountain of Curaçao. You can choose between several sometimes guided walking-tours through the park - also to the top of the mountain!

Many of the monumental plantation houses are renovated and still in use. Some of them are open for tourists.

For example the Sta. Martha house, where souvenirs from locally found materials are manufactured.
At Ascension you can visit the house and at regularly base there's a guided tour where you can get to know a lot of the history of the island.

People who want to discover the local cuisine can go to 'Dokterstuin', where you can taste the real krioyo food or to 'Daniël', that has a comprehensive menu but also serves pancakes.

At the north coast a nature reserve of a totally different kind is located: Shete Boka.
Just out of reach of the rough sea the sea turtles lay their eggs. Several bays are open for public and are accessible on foot or by car.
Really sensational is Boka Pistol, that is named after the deafening cracks by which the waves are bursting against the rocks.
